Defneli, The Gulf of Gokova.

Also know as the Turquoise Coast, but why ?

South-west Turkey offers the most spectacular vacations in the Mediterranean - scenically beautiful, with an astonishingly rich legacy of archeological ruins and historic sites. In Turkish, Mediterranean is called Akdeniz, or "White Sea". Those familiar with its beryline waters and spectacular vistas punctuated with coves, castles and cities of the ancient world prefer to call it the Turquoise Coast , where the color of the sea is naturally turquoise.

This is even more so in the Gulf of Gokova, the water is also generally 3 to 4 degrees warmer and clearer visibility compared to the waters around Marmaris. During the summer months (July, August and September) we saw a surface water temperature of 28 degrees and an amazing variety of marine life including Sea Horses, Dolphins, Turtles, Barracuda and a Seal, plus our usual friends from the area - Octopus and Morays.

The dive resort of Defneli is unbeatable, completely away from the hustle and bustle of the busy cosmopolitan resort of Marmaris set in a protected wilderness area of pine and bay leaf trees, with the nearby local villages which shows the old Turkey. You will see lots of little blue boxes dotted along the hill sides, from which the local villagers make the pine and flower honey which is a must to try a sample of.

Defneli caters for all levels of divers. Qualified divers are taken away to one of our many great dive sites on our 15 metre dive boat 'Delphinus', whilst our beginners diving is carried out from the shore line. Courses will work from both the shore and the boat. Non divers are more than welcome to come and join us for the day as well, chill out on one of the sun beds and enjoy the noise of nature - it does not get more peaceful than this.
